MAR named as Telstra Businees Awards finalist for 2008

Machinery Automation and Robotics (MAR) has been announced as a finalist in the Telstra 2008 Business Awards.

Now in its 16th year, the Telstra Business Awards recognise and reward the ingenuity and innovation of Australia’s most outstanding businesses. In 2008, the Award categories were changed to better represent Australian Small and Medium Businesses with the awards open to all eligible businesses between one and 200 employees.

This year over 4,500 businesses across Australia were nominated for the Awards, with just a handful of finalists selected from each state. Machinery Automation & Robotics (MAR) is one of 6 finalists for both the Panasonic Australia Medium Business Award and the AMP Innovation Award.

Mr Clyde Campbell CEO said “For MAR to be nominated as a finalist in such a prestigious award is a great honour. It recognises the hard work that our dedicated team put in on a daily basis and benchmarks us against the top businesses in the State”.

Machinery Automation & Robotics designs, builds and integrates automated manufacturing solutions incorporating advanced robotics for production critical industries. Investing heavily in research and development, MAR has developed its own proprietary technologies which enable its manufacturing clients to compete in a global market. Established in 1987, the business has grown to employ a team of 47 staff servicing clients across Australia and internationally, from offices in New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland. MAR has recently entered the American market and is looking to expand further and supply European manufacturers.

Winners will be announced on Friday 5 September 2008 at Hilton Sydney, where one business will also be named the 2008 Telstra New South Wales Business of the Year.

Queensland Office moves to New Premises.

After completing several major projects in Queensland, and with many more in the pipeline, MAR is moving its Queensland Office to new premises. The new building will enable further expansion of its service offering, while providing space to complete factory acceptance testing prior to installation.

DataDot Wins Government Support for Robotic Applicator

The directors of DataDot Technology Ltd (DDT) announce that DDT has been awarded a government grant of $1.5 million to establish proof of concept and develop early stage commercialisation of its DataDotDNA Automated Applicator Cell (DAAC) for use by motor vehicle manufacturers. This will bring to $3.5 million the total investment pool available for the DAAC project.

The DAAC is a prototype robotic applicator owned by DDT and developed by DDT and Machinery and Automated Robotics Ltd to apply DataDotDNA on vehicle assembly lines within the cycle time requirements of manufacturers. DataDotDNA is currently applied to vehicles using a patented, hand-held application method that takes about 7 minutes per vehicle. Using the DAAC, the application time using DDT's patented spray-on method will be reducible to 40 seconds.

This year’s ‘Aussie Cup’ TPM3 team competition is shaping up to be an international affair.

With 16 entries from leading companies throughout Australia , the competition has been extended to 4 finalists who will present at Australia’s 12th TPM3 Annual Forum in Melbourne at the Airport Motel & Convention Centre on the 16 August 2006.

The finalists announce last week were Banpu Coal Mining Lampang Mine in Thailand, CSL Bioplasma Plasma Processing Plant in Broadmeadows Melbourne, Fonterra Australia’s Cororooke Cheese Plant in Western Victoria and Simplot Australia’s Bathurst Vegetable Processing Plant in Western NSW .

Machinery Automation & Robotics becomes first TPM3 Accredited Supplier in Australasia

Machinery Automation and Robotics received its accreditation as a TPM3 Accredited Supplier on Thursday, 2 March from The Centre of TPM ( Australasia ) at a gala presentation dinner.

The announcement was made at the 2006 New Zealand TPM3 Forum's Dinner where over 60 attendees from a range of leading New Zealand manufacturing sites were present.

MAR has been working towards accreditation for over 12 months and as an accredited supplier complies to TPM3 best practices across a range of areas focused around new equipment design, build and integration. Key considerations include Operability, Maintainability, Training and Documentation & Knowledge. To supply TPM3 Friendly equipment TPM3 philosophies must be incorporated into all stages starting with design & build through to installation, integration and training.
